Bishop Charles Keyser's Blessing

November 20, 2005: Year A, Last Sunday after Pentecost

We thank Bishop Keyser for his presence and for the inspiration he brought to Christ Church during his visit. We have his permission to post the blessing he gave at the 9:30 service:

May God bless...

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths and superficial relationships.

so that you will live with integrity deep within your own heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and the exploitation of people. so that you can work for justice, equality and peace.

May God bless you with tears shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that you can reach out to comfort them, and to change their pain to joy.

May God bless you with the foolishness to think you can make a difference in the system in which you work, so that you will risk doing the things which others tell you cannot be done.

And finally, may God bless you with the grace to remember every joy and blessing in your mini and the grace to forget the pain, hurt and disappointments you have experienced in seeking and serving Christ In all persons.

In Jesus name. Amen.
