Cub Scouts
CUB SCOUTS—Pack 470 was chartered three years ago, with Mike Holland as founding Pack Master and Julie Jackson as Den Leader. The members of the pack meet every Monday at 7 p.m. in front of the Parish Hall. Last year, activities included learning Russian slap dancing, visiting an art studio, playing percussion instruments, making a medicine bag, hearing about the job of a veterinarian, hiking, creating crafts and presenting skits, racing Pinewood Derby cars, and enjoying a family campout. Cub scouts also engaged actively in outreach by decorating and filling shoeboxes with gifts for children all over the world through Operation Christmas Child. Last year's projects also included keeping Christ Church's crèche figures in good repair, moving the Magi on their journey to the manger between Christmas and Epiphany, and cleaning flower beds for a Christ Church family.
MISSION—Cub Scouts work to be good citizens locally and globally. Cub Scouting emphasizes character development and spiritual growth, good citizenship, good sportsmanship, family activities and involvement, respect for other people, development of new interests and skills, and preparation for joining the Boy Scouts. Most of all, Cub Scouting is fun!
NEEDS—Needs include a meeting room and storage space for craft supplies. Adults willing to share interests, hobbies, and skills are always welcome; and leaders would appreciate hearing from anyone whose work would be a good candidate for a field trip. Boys in the first through fifth grades are invited to join.
