CHRIST EPISCOPAL PRESCHOOL

CHRIST EPISCOPAL PRESCHOOL—The preschool was established eighteen years ago by Bishop Henry Louttitt, who was then Rector of Christ Church. Located in the Norma Tomberlin House at the corner of Slater and College Street, the preschool accepts 2 ½ to 4 year-olds. Among the activities offered are music, art, and school readiness, including socialization and letter and number recognition.

MISSION—The preschool mission statement is as follows: "Christ Church provides a preschool in which little people's excitement about learning can be encouraged -- their wonder supported and where they can learn to respect others. We think that young children are naturally grateful and joyful. As a Christian school, we would hope to encourage a sense of thanksgiving for creation's God. We do not think that preschoolers are ready to be evangelized or made to feel that their family's religion, or even lack of it, is wrong."

VOLUNTEER NEEDS— Substitute teachers and volunteers, including those who would like to read to the children, are always needed.

CHRIST CHURCH CONTACTS include:
Elise Sandbach, 244-9796;
Molly Greneker, 242-5115
