Hurricane Katrina Outreach

Much thanks to all of those who have contributed to this continuing effort, including

Members of the River Street Church; St. Margaret's (Moultrie); Trinity Presbyterian; First Presbyterian (Quitman);

Mrs. Mary Days, our newest and, at 89, our oldest member. Mrs. Days has crocheted over a half-dozen blankets!

Unnamed angels who dropped blankets in the box;

Chris Jester (St. Barnabas), who provided free packing; and Helen Tucker, who provided boxes;

And all the wonderful folks at Christ Church.

Thanks to your generosity, we have already shipped over 100 blankets and will be ready to make another shipment this week.

An Ongoing Collection

The Stitchers are still making, buying, and collecting baby blankets for the littlest victims of the hurricane. Please consider

a) Buying and contributing new baby blankets; or

b) Buying flannel and making blankets (they need to be edged, either by machine or by hand. If you want to add a pretty border, see the patterns for easy crocheted edgings.); or

c) Knitting or crocheting blankets, from preemie size on up. See the Patterns page, or go directly to Mega-Links or Specialized links.

You may drop off your blankets at Christ Episcopal Church (1521 North Patterson St., across from VSU). The office, which is around the corner on College Street, is open M-F, 9-3:30.

For further information, or an alternate drop-off place or time, call or email Deacon Patricia Marks, 244-5159; or the Church Office, 242-5115.
